Artists Dolton and Debbie Roberts found a unique way to combine their respective talents to create a special art. Debbie creates all patterns using an exacto knife to bring detail into the pattern. These patterns are then transferred by silver pencil to sheet steel. Dolton then skillfully hand cuts each art piece with a plasma arc. He grinds and polishes the steel until it is shiny, welds a balanced wall hanger on the back of each piece, and stamps it with a "circle D" logo, using his grinder to create texture in the steel. They then wield an acetylene/oxygen torch as like painting with heat, slowly bringing out beautiful colors inherent in the steel. Brilliant golds are followed by purple and blue, depending on the temperature of the steel. The artwork is coated on both sides with a clear epoxy polymer which gives the artwork a depth not usually seen in metal art. The epoxy smoothes the edges of the steel and gives a polished mirror like finish. The finish is water, heat and uv resistant and can be shined with furniture polish. Artwork is signed on the back by Circle D Metal Art, Capitan NM. Dolton and Debbie began their metal artwork in Biloxi, Mississippi in 2002 and moved to their beloved Capitan, New Mexico in 2004 where they are constantly inspired by the backdrop of the Sacramento and Capitan mountains outside their studio. Circle D exhibits at many art related festivals throughout the year. They are at the Weems Galleries in Albuquerque and Oso Art Gallery in Capitan.
