Don Lucero-Schultz

Sculpture & Fine Art Masks

Biography

Don Lucero-Schultz

Don's masks and sculptures are partly a reflection of the Spanish and Native American cultures of New Mexico in which he grew up, and also, influences from the strong cultural arts of Greece and Japan while living in those countries. Also, living in Taylor Ranch, New Mexico with close access to the mesas and deserts give Don a continuous source of inspiration for his work.

Don says, "I very rarely began a piece with a certain culture in mind, but generally, I have an idea where I would like to go with a piece. It rarely ends up being that piece I imagined. Some pieces do not reveal where they want to go for several years. These usually end up being my favorite pieces. "

A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Don graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1987 with a BBA in Marketing. Don had Art on display at the Capitol Building during the 2003 and 2004 Legislative Sessions in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His work is represented at the Dovetail Gallery in Holualoa, Hawaii, Some' Gallery in Historic Old Town, Alb, and the Weyrich Gallery in Albuquerque.
