"Creating a joyful noise of vibrant colors and bold shapes"
When I begin a new work I cut paper, squirt out fresh paint, shuffle through photos, listen to music, and let words float through my mind. Allowing random associations to present themselves, I stay alert to the spark that suggests a direction to explore.
Many veils of transparent paint are layered while slowly building to the final image. Vibrant, luminous colors, and stylized shapes characterize my art. Experimenting with materials and techniques keeps the process fresh and the work exciting. I find myself returning to floral and landscape motifs.
I currently work in my painting/printmaking home studio in northwest New Mexico. My paintings and original monotype prints have received awards in regional and national competions. My work is in private collections as well as corporate collections such as the San Juan Medical Foundation, City of Farmington, and San Juan College. Most recently I installed four 3'x8' acrylic paintings on clear acrylic panel at San Juan College for the commission "Creating Cosmos from Chaos".
