Artist Statement

Since an early age, I have felt compelled to collect bones, shells and other discarded remnants. By exporing my collected objects through drawing I begin to see their hidden personalities and occasionally I get glimpses into a greater spirit-realm. For subject matter, I start with a significant event in my life such as a death, feelings of love, a loss or triumph, etc., and build a narrative. Each object used in the composition is carefully chosen for it's personality and personal symbolic significance. The creation of these prints and assemblages acts as form of communion for me.

Once finished, my pieces take on a life of their own. Gaining new interpretations as it is viewed and reinterpreted by other people. This causes my creations to achieve a new and separate life. For the viewer, I hope to impart the underlying sense of magic I find in reinterpreting these discarded objects.
